Fiona Coote & Vanessa Chang. The Two of Us. Over 40 years later.

Fiona Coote is regarded as Australia’s most successful heart transplant patient. She was only 14 years old when Dr Victor Chang operated on her in 1984. Dr Chang’s daughter, Vanessa, was 15 years old when she met Fiona, peering through a glass panel at St Vincent’s Hospital. After Dr Chang’s death in 1991, the two shared their grief in different ways. Fiona is a Patron of the Victor Chang Foundation and Vanessa Chang is its CEO.
