We would love to know if you have included us in your Will! You are under no obligation to tell us, but it gives us the chance to thank you for your generosity and to share our long-term plans with you. Any information you decide to share is completely confidential.
-
Sharing your decision with your loved ones lets them know why training heart surgeons and continuing Dr Victor Chang’s work is important to you. It’s something you and your family can be proud of together.
-
If you already have a Will, you don’t necessarily need to start from the beginning to include a gift to the Victor Chang Foundation. Instead, you could add a codicil, a separate document that refers to the clause in your Will you wish to change and sets out the change. It is important not to make alterations on your existing Will, as this may make it invalid. You can find suggested wording for your codicil, and your codicil must be witnessed by two people when you sign and date it. If your change is complex, you may need a new Will. If in doubt, it is best to ask a solicitor to help.

There are many kinds of gifts you can leave, including:
1. A percentage of your estate
2. A specific sum of money
3. Property
4. Shares
Leaving a percentage of your estate has the most impact, as it keeps up with inflation and maintains its value over time.
1. It is simple – 1%, 5%, 10% – it does not change, even if the value of your estate does
2. It allows you to take care of your loved ones first
